The Cardinals need an Intervention

So I'm watching Intervention on A&E. That show disturbs me immensely. It ridiculous the lifestyles that the addicts live. If you haven't seen the show, cameras follow drug addicts around and at the end, that person's family holds an intervention in an attempt to save that person's life. I think the St. Louis Cardinals need an Intervention. I've been following the contract negotions with Albert Pujols and its just as ridiculous as this show. The Cardinals can not think about giving a 31 year old a ten year contract! The thought of it boggles the mind. I can't be the only person who finds the idea of paying a 41 year Pujols 30 million dollars as the most absurd idea ever. Albert has been a great player - a transendent player - but the Cards would be foolish to agree to this. This contract will ruin the franchise. It will be an albatross. The Cards should stand tall and let him walk away. Yes it will be a PR nightmare but the Cards are a great franchise and they will continue to be one without Pujols. Pujols's only leverage is the fact that the fans want him to be a lifetime Cardinal. Thats it. No one thinks he will still be great 10 years from now. So let get together, slap Cards management and intervene in this mess. Cardinals fan, life will go on without Big Albert. We promise.

  1. No way they should give in on that amount of years but if he makes it to free agency some dumb team (Nationals, Dodgers, Tigers)would do it

  2. Yeah, it's not when, but who. Someone will pay him the cheddar and the Cards don't want to see Big Al come to town and hit bombs against them for the next few seasons. They'll overpay just to prevent that. All teams seem to do that now.
